Source code
This site runs the original Atari ST program LASRCHES.PRG unchanged. It runs on
two pieces of free software, both under the GNU General Public License:
- Hatari 2.6.1, the Atari ST emulator, compiled to WebAssembly. The source is at
framagit.org/hatari/hatari (tag
v2.6.1). The changes for this site are in hatari-2.6.1-laserchess.patch. They let the page set the frame pace and feed mouse input, which keeps the two players' emulators in step, and they make the Emscripten build work with current toolchains. - EmuTOS 1.4 (192 KB, US), the free replacement for the ST's operating system. The source is at github.com/emutos/emutos and the release is on SourceForge.
The page's own scripts are served as plain, readable files, for example main.js, emu.js and net.js.
Laser Chess was written by Mike Duppong in 1987, first published by COMPUTE!'s Atari ST Disk & Magazine, and distributed as freeware.
